London,April 29: It would have been a big night for Robert Redford no matter what, but the actor and director also had an important reunion on Monday.
The 78-year-old Oscar winner was presented with the 42nd Chaplin Award at a gala held in New York City's Lincoln Center.
On hand to present that award was Robert's co-star in the classic 1973 movie, The Way We Were, 73-year-old Barbra Streisand.
More than 40 years after the two actors played lovers torn apart by politics and lifestyles, Robert and Barbra reunited on the gala's arrivals carpet, smiling brightly while they posed for photos together.
Wearing a black suit with a white dress shirt and a bright orange tie, Robert retained plenty of the boyish charm that made him a movie star many decades ago.
The Film Society of Lincoln Center chose to honour the prolific actor, producer, and director for his lifetime achievements in film.
Those achievements include four Oscar nominations - with a win for directing 1980's Ordinary People.
Dressed in a floor-length green gown covered by a black coat, Barbra was one of the biggest guests on hand to honour her one-time co-star.
The recipient of the Chaplin Award just two years ago, Barbra took the stage to introduce Robert.
